I decided to leave behind the Freeport home, and move to the 7 year veteran reward – Mistmoore Craig Estate. Placing those 300+ books was an enormous pain, but completely worth it. Enjoy!
@Stargrace: Right, got ya. That’s, well, I’m not sure whether it’s totally awesome or pretty poor quality control. But more building space is more building space ^^
Also: moar videos pl0x. These have been pretty interesting so far.
@Dril – homes in EQ2 are within their own zones. Now most of the time you can only wander around the actual ‘home’ section, but there are methods you can use to bypass this. An example. 5 room homes in South Qeynos are actually entire zones of South Qeynos. Even if you only use the home section of it. You can place teleporters (quest reward items) using the layout editor, and break out of the boundaries of the home, thus effectively creating the entire zone of South Freeport to become your home.
There are weak points in geometry all over homes, and people have posted on the forums where they are as well as how to access them. It’s just if you want to use an entire zone for your home instead of just the limitations of the building you’re given. If that doesn’t make sense, check out the Eq2players forums, the Norrathian Homeshow has all sorts of homes that players have created outside the boundaries of their given homes. It’s technically alright to do, as we’ve had some red names point out that it doesn’t hinder game play at all since the entire zone loads anyway, but I don’t think that it’s something that HAS to be done in order to make a home unique.
I’m baffled: can you EQ2 folks shed some light on what “breaking out” is?
@Niall – like I said, some places breaking out works, other places I’m just not interested in creating from scratch, the idea with the museum is to showcase the items within, not the building techniques. I have other homes that have extensive layout editor use in them. =)
I suppose the reason I ask is because of the greater lattitude for creativity breaking out allows. It gives one a much larger and more diverse canvas upon which to paint.
@Niall — why is it now considered “imperative” to break out of any house/guild hall? There’s so much than can be done without exploiting that bug, I don’t see the reason that you’re projecting the attitude that if it ain’t broken out it ain’t done right. Can you enlighten me?
I’m not being snarky, I’m genuinely curious.
@Niall – only reason I have not broken out of the estate is because I don’t see a reason to, I have so much room. For the museum in specific adding extra items to break outside the boundaries (ie: extra building) would just bring me closer to a cap on house items. The museum (to me) is unique in the way that I focus on the items within, and not on the construction. No real reason aside from that.
My mailbox is still available for book donations. The museum is located on Oasis, I’ve been there for quite some time now. I changed the “player-written book” section of this site to reflect where it is now.
I noticed you have not broken out of your estate. Any reason for this? Also, since you have announced that you are taking a hiatus (hopefully not a pemanent one) from EQ2, will your mailbox be unavailable for donations to your book collection? Which server is your museum located on? I assume it is no longer on Antonia Bayle.
You are unable to claim the yearly rewards on EQ2X but you can claim whatever other benefits your account may have (like pre-order bonuses). My EQ2 account is still active and I logged in to make these videos. :)
Nice! Does this mean you are back on the live servers? Or were you able to get the 7 year vet reward on the EQ2X servers?
