Created with procreate on an iPad with an Apple Pencil, I called this one ‘inside’ because even though I feel small, inside I’m all roar.
Another procreate practice piece.
Not one of my more favourite pieces, but they can’t all be winners. Done on procreate.
This month was the first time I had heard about “Inktober” an event that runs for all of October and was apparently started by a Jake Parker to help develop good drawing habits and then just sort of went viral from there. Back when I was much younger (17 years ago at least) I used to do quite a bit of drawing, but since then I’ve fallen out of the habit and it’s something I’ve always regretted. You can see some of my older stuff on an inactive DeviantART account I have.
Even though I haven’t done any drawing for many years I decided why not take part, especially after I saw friends showing off their awesome pieces. There is a drawing prompt for the month but you don’t have to use it. I’ve been following it because it makes things easier for me, especially after being so rusty. I just ordered myself a set of micron pens which should get here on Tuesday, and I’m excited to try them out because my current pen is.. well, it’s drying out and just not good.
Speaking of not good – I know my stuff isn’t good. It’s pretty horrible, actually. That’s not me being harsh on myself, that’s 17 years of not using my skills. My hope is that after Inktober is done I’ll continue drawing, and then over the next year I’ll be able to see some improvement. I love drawing (well, I love many artistic endevours, but drawing in specific) and I want to be able to get better at it. It’s one of those skills you have to practice every day though and lets face it 17 years is a long time.
The point of this post is to say it doesn’t matter how good you are or how long it has been. If you enjoy doing something or have regrets about not doing something – change it. Within reason and logic of course, but don’t let time passing be one of the things that holds you back.
Random bits of stuff today, full view is better of course, you can find it here. Just patching the test server and getting read to make some dinner, needed a distraction. Far too much real life stuff on my mind lately!
Needed something to occupy my time while I made chili and home made bread, so enjoy! Full view is best, which you can check out here.
I took a little break from gaming yesterday to play around with some more art pieces, learning (yet another) new program that I’m trying to get the hang of. I’m not that great at it yet, it’s a lot more complicated then the previous one I was using, but the images also come out a lot nicer too (as shown above). I want to do an image with my rendition of my EQ necromancer – she’s Drakkin though and I’d like to add the scales / tattoos that cover her body (in red). There’s no post work on the image above, so it still needs a lot of work, but I decided to scrap it and start over again from scratch.
I did play for a brief bit last night, Ultann is still in the process of moving, so it was just Ninga and I. We decided to do some more Depths of Darkhollow missions, working on getting more of my spells (and a few other pretties in the process). We did one that involved slaying a lot of mushroom men, annoying ones that liked to path funny.
I also had two glowing runes to turn in (level 70 spells) as well as two greater runes on Kameeko – she finally obtained her level 69 mez and can take care of creatures up to level 73. The previous one only worked up to level 70, so this is a good thing for me. She earned three more aa, and I unlocked yet another tradeskill to 300 instead of 200. Not sur which it will be yet, as I haven’t crafted in quite some time and the guides on leveling on EQ traders are quite out dated.
The mission runs were fun and relatively painless, since we had to rely on my one mercenary healing us we just did the easy versions. Normally it would be no problem at all to do the hard missions, but alas my mercenary is not the most reliable of healers even on the best of days.
As we head into March I’m getting more and more excited about the 10th anniversary of EQ. I think it will be great to see old players return to check out the events (there’s no doubt in my mind that a few will at least), and maybe even drag a few new players out that way as well. We’ll just have to see!
As always, happy gaming no matter where you happen to find yourself, see you in Norrath!
Quick thing I did yesterday
Quiet afternoon, decided it had been a little while since I posted anything art-wise. Pernicious is my swashbuckler on the Najena server – the screen shot background is from Vanguard. You can of course find it in full view as well as a few variations on my DeviantART gallery and no doubt tomorrow on ShutterCal.
Happy New Years everyone!
Finally found my muse. Right where I thought I left it.
Didn’t game much tonight, ran an instance in Commonlands that was pretty fast (I forget the name already) where you have to move the named to different statues or something. Anyhow, I got a master from there too (woohoo). Go see the art piece in full view because the little tiny one here sucks. That’s what I spent the evening doing though.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone!
